Swapan Akhilesh Dholakia, MD

Biography

Dr. Dholakia is a board certified neurologist and sleep specialist.  After completing his medical school and internal medicine residency in India, he moved to the United States and completed his residency in neurology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  He served as chief neurology resident and received the best resident award.  He completed a fellowship in sleep medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a second fellowship in clinical neurophysiology from Emory University. After completing his training, he joined private practice and served as staff neurologist and medical director of the sleep laboratory at Atlanta Medical Center.  Dr. Dholakia moved to Emory and the Atlanta Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in 2015 and serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology. 

Dr. Dholakia is a Staff Physician at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and medical director of the Atlanta VA sleep laboratory. His areas of clinical interest include management of veterans with sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and insomnia, as well as neurological conditions such as Parkinson disease, stroke, epilepsy, headaches and neuropathy.  He also plays an active role in resident and fellow education.
